Conor McGregor Confirmed for ‘Game of Thrones’ Role

Conor McGregor’s constant presence in the 24-hour-a-day news cycle might find the brash Irish fighter taking his media crown.

With news already breaking today that Floyd Mayweather is “dead serious” about fighting Conor McGregor, we now find further lines blurring between pugilism and entertainment after UFC President, Dana White, confirmed that McGregor had completed a cameo/role on the upcoming season of Game of Thrones.

“I did hear that,” White confirmed on FOX Sports Live. “I knew a few months ago that they were interested in putting him in the show. I’m glad he did it. It will be great. The show is huge. It’s awesome, and I’m excited for him.”

While it had been a known fact that GOT showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss were huge UFC fans and had extended an invitation, nothing was set in stone until today.

At first glance, the connection between McGregor and Game of Thrones may seem strange. However, Irish actor Liam Cunningham, who is best known for his role in the show as Lord Davos Seaworthy, has been known to train at the same gym as McGregor. Additionally, McGregor famously squared off against The Mountain in a friendly sparring session.

Stay tuned for further details on whether McGregor is Team Jon Snow or Team Khaleesi.
